Gale Hendrickson (1928 - 2018)

Gale Hendrickson was a Minnesota artist that had a studio in St. Paul, Minnesota for many years.  He was known for wildlife painting and enjoyed a long and prolific career as a commercial illustrator at Brown & Bigelow Company.

He worked in a style inspired by the artistic visions of friend and fellow Brown & Bigelow illustrator Bill Medcalf.  In addition to working for Brown & Bigelow, Hendrickson produced paintings for several other calendar companies including The Vernon Calendar Co., Warwick Calendar Co. and others.

This talented artist brought to life many wildlife scenes, portraits of famous Americans, western scenes, and more.  Hendrickson's paintings demonstrated his love for the outdoors and he credited art luminaries such as Frederick Remington, Norman Rockwell, and Paul Detlefson, as artists that helped to influenced his painting style.
