Hazel Moore (1907 - 1970)
Hazel Moore was born in Minneapolis in 1907. She studied at the University of Minnesota, Art Institute of Chicago, Applied Art school in Chicago and under artists Hans Hofmann, Joseph Binder and Douglas Donaldson.
Later she served as assistant supervisor of art for Duluth public schools and she taught at Minneapolis West high school, Macalester College and Minneapolis School of Art.
Moore was a veteran exhibitor, participating in many shows between 1930 and 1958, including exhibits at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Walker Art Center, St. Paul Gallery, and the Minnesota State Fair.
She loved traveling and would always make “thumbnail” sketches during her trips for future reference in her studio. Her travels took her to Hawaii, Canada, Cuba, Jamaica, and Central America as well as Europe and North Africa.
Moore passed away in 1970.
