Jenny Lesser

Jenny Lesser is a painter from Orono, Minnesota, who now splits time between the Twin Cities and the Pacific Northwest.  As a teenager, Jenny took classes at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Minnetonka Center for the arts. She was the cartoonist for her high school newspaper, the Knight Errant, and went on to publish weekly political cartoons for the Daily Pennsylvanian.

Jenny’s work is inspired by her love of postmodern poetry, her interest in minimalist classical music, and her graduate work in psychology. Her paintings consist of unplanned layers of organic shapes, sometimes inhabited by cartoonish embryonic and amoebic creatures. She hopes her paintings represent the complicated webs we wrap around ourselves, fibers of ideas real and dreamt, that fashion who we are and secure us in space.
