Reuben Joseph Brewer (1885 -     )

Reuben Brewer was artist Nicholas R. Brewer’s third son.  In a 1932 exhibition at the Woman’s College Library at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina Reuben showed four landscapes in a show called the “The Brewer Exhibit” where the only other exhibitor was his father Nicholas Brewer.

Reuben likely studied with his father but is otherwise not known to have received any art training.  His repertoire was apparently limited to landscapes on the order of Red Oaks, Southwest Minnesota, depicting autumnal views of river bluffs.  Only a few paintings by Reuben Brewer have been discovered.
