Clarence C. Rosenkranz (1871 - 1959)

C. C. Rosenkranz was a painter and teacher at the Minnesota Art School in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In the 1920s, he lived in New York City where he did background painting at the American Museum of Natural History in the Hall of Asian Mammals and the Hall of African Mammals.  As a dioramist who worked with Francis Lee Jaques in the Hall of Asian Mammals, he was credited by Jaques, who did the leopard diorama, as being his 'greatest teacher'.

Rosenkrantz studied under John Ward Stimson, William Merritt Chase and Walter Shirlaw.  He was a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists, Duluth Art Association and Minnesota State Art Association.

His exhibition venues included the Art Institute of Chicago, 1899; and Albright Knox Art Gallery and his works are included in the collections of the Minnesota Art Society in the public library of Hibbing, Minnesota, and the public library of Buhl, Minnesota.
