Henry Carling (1856-1932)
 

Henry Carling and his younger brother James, both artists, were born in Liverpool, England. In 1871, they both emigrated to the United States, with Henry settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is known for painting and was largely self-taught.  He specialized in pastels. Many prominent people sat for his portraits and his works are in several public and private collections including the Tweed Museum of Art in Duluth, MN and the Minnesota Historical Society.
