Carole Fisher (1939-2024)
Carole Fisher was a significant Minnesota multimedia artist, educator, and feminist. She was known for her socially engaged, issue-driven art, which explored women's identities, media influence, and environmental impacts, such as the Exxon Valdez oil spill disaster. Her work challenged cultural stereotypes, explored female identity, and addressed violence and vulnerability in society, advocating for women's empowerment.

Carole received a BFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) and an MFA from Penn State. She was a beloved professor at MCAD from 1979 to 2010, serving as Chair of Fine Arts and Director of graduate programs.

She was also a founding member and key organizer of the Women's Art Registry of Minnesota (WARM) gallery and a key figure in the Twin Cities art scene, leaving a legacy of activism and artistic exploration.
Carole's work has been included in group and solo exhibitions, including Galleria Del Cavallino, Venice, Italy; Whitney Museum of American Art, Milwaukee Art Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Soho 20 Gallery, New York; Woman's Building, Los Angeles; and Rourke Art Gallery, Moorhead, MN. In addition, she served as panelist for the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program (MAEP), and the Minneapolis City Arts Commission.
